Iberia is set to establish a joint business partnership with Qatar Airways and British Airways, enabling them to serve Doha together.

In a momentous collaboration, Iberia is joining forces with British Airways and Qatar Airways to bolster their oneworld partnership. This strategic alliance aims to enhance global connectivity, with a focus on the key hubs in Doha, London, and Madrid.

Commencing from December 11th, Iberia will commence daily flights between Madrid's Barajas International Airport and Doha's Hamad International Airport, further augmenting the capacity between the oneworld hubs. This expanded network will provide frequent flyers with the opportunity to accumulate Avios points on over 200 destinations collectively served by these three esteemed airlines.

As part of this development, Spanish flag carrier Iberia will deploy its Airbus A330-200s on this route, offering a comfortable travel experience for passengers. The aircraft will be equipped with Business Plus, boasting 19 flatbed seats, and Economy class, providing 269 seats with generous legroom of 30-32 inches and a recline of 6-7 inches.

Fernando Candela, CEO of Iberia, expressed excitement about the multitude of destinations that will now be accessible through this expanded partnership. This triple alliance among Iberia, Qatar Airways, and British Airways is poised to deliver a truly seamless and convenient travel experience for passengers worldwide.

With this new daily service to Doha, Iberia is marking yet another milestone in its commitment to offering superior connectivity and travel opportunities to its discerning customers.

“Joining the QJB with Qatar Airways and British Airways is excellent news for our customers. We are really excited about the launch of our Madrid-Doha route. Through QJB hubs in London and Doha, we are building the much-desired bridge between Spain and more than 200 destinations in Asia, Australasia, the Middle East, and Africa, and offering new opportunities for travelers in both directions.

“Our country is moving towards a new model of higher-quality tourism and with the Madrid-Doha launching, we are making a breakthrough.”

What will it give passengers?

With the additional hub links, passengers can connect to more than 200 destinations through the three global airlines. Adding Madrid allows Ibiria's extensive network across the Iberian Peninsula and South America more accessible access to key markets in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Australia via Doha.

The partnership also gives passengers more options to use a single ticket to take advantage of other partner premium products, including Qatar Airways' QSuite, Iberia's business class, and British Airways' Club Suite. British Airways' Chairman and CEO, Sean Doyle, said:

“Last year, we expanded our joint business partnership with Qatar Airways with the addition of 42 countries, and I’m so pleased to see it growing even further as we welcome Iberia onboard.

"We’re committed to offering our customers as much choice as possible and working so closely with our partners in Madrid and Doha connects British Airways to more than 200 destinations globally.”
