In an exclusive interview with T3FS, Mr. Har Sahay Meena, I.A.S, Commissioner of Tourism & Managing Director, TTDC speaks about MICE Tourism in Tamil Nadu. It represents a great travel destination with many places to suit every kind of travel requirement.
Tell us about Tamil Nadu Tourism as MICE destination?
Tamil Nadu Tourism is promoting MICE tourism in a big way. IATO like big conventions are held in Tamil Nadu.
The time in your presence Tamil Nadu is hosting one of the big convention of travel industry that is IATO convention. What you would you like to say about this and what make you to invite IATO in Chennai?
Tamil Nadu is ranked first in both domestic and foreign tourist arrivals in 2014 and 2015 consecutively. This context made IATO to hold its convention in Chennai.
What are your expectation from IATO?
IATO is one of the major tourism stakeholders convention which help the States to get more mileage in tourism promotion.
Beside IATO is there any plan lined up for another association. If yes, what are those association and when it will be welcome in Chennai?
There is no plan as such now. If any tourism/travel associations approach Tamil Nadu Tourism we will coordinate with them.
In your presence, Tamil Nadu Tourism is boosting with a good number of tourist arrival? So we would like to know your work strategy, how you make it possible and what are your strategies to face the challenges very easily?
Tamil Nadu has diversified tourism potential. which attracts all kinds and segments of tourists. This Department publicise the various tourism potentials to welcome all kinds of tourists. Therefore, this achievement could made possible.
At last what message you would like to convey to our audience IATO convention delegates?
We request all delegates to visit Tamil Nadu and send your groups to the heritage and hospitality flourished State. We have all kinds of tourism attractions.
