The High Commission of Rwanda in India in co-operation with the Rwanda Development Board ( RDB ) turned their vision towards the Indian travel trade to promote Rwanda as a new destination for tourism and investment opportunities by organizing a two city road show.
The road shows were held in Mumbai at The Westin on 19 February, 2016 and in Bangalore at The Chancery Pavilion on 20 February, 2016.
The High Commissioner of Rwanda , His Excelency Ernest Rwamucyo highlighted in his speech " We are happy to be here in Mumbai and showcase Remarkable Rwanda to Indians who were the second largest visitors to Rwanda after the Americans."
Anny Batamuriza , Vice Chairperson of the Rwanda Tourism Chamber said " WE look to India as the future for various tourism opportunities in Rwanda." She highlighted various initiatives being taken by Rwanda Tourism to tap the Indian tourism market.
Linda Mutesi, Division Manager, Tourism Marketing, Rwanda Development Board, gave a detailed [presentation on " Destination Rwanda" highlighting the investment opportunities available in the tourism and hospitality sector.and assured maximum support from the Rwandan authorities.
Clarence Fernandes, Representative , Rwanda Development Board, remarked :" As the apex Government Agency , mandated to enhance trade, tourism and investments into the country, we are always on hand to support and assist the travel trade and MICE planners . We are very pleased to have facilitated the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding between the Rwanda Tourism Chamber ( RTC ) and the two leading travel bodies ,h the Travel Agents Association of India ( TAAI ) and the Travel Agents Federation of India ( TAFI ) "
The seminars held in Mumbai and Bangalore were a huge success with an audience of over 200 participants in each city.
Both the events concluded with a colorful cultural performance in which Rwandan students studying in India performed a set of Rwandan cultural dances.
