PATA India Chapter conducted a seminar for its Members and the Trade on 5th April, 2016 at the PARK Hotel, New Delhi. CEO Mario Hardy and Advisor John Koldowski were invited to share global perspectives on “Tourism is Growing : Seize the Opportunity”.
Mario Hardy shared information relating to Tourism forecasts, the need for diversification of tourists from iconic sights for sustainable tourism, the benefits of establishing multiple tourism destinations to de-clutter popular sights, challenges of multi departmental government decision making process and establishing clarity on the role of public/private partnership. All these elements would help to sustain tourism and deliver a force multiplier effect to grow the visitor economy.
John Koldowski shared present day travel & tourism trends. He emphasised on the need to measure tourism in terms of nights spent in India by tourists rather than number of tourists who visit a country. He provide an insight into the movement of tourists within the Asia Pacific region and identified areas of opportunity for tourism growth.The event was well attended by PATA Memebership and a cross section of the trade besides media.
Earlier in the day Mr Hardy attended a PATA Executive Committee meeting and met with Mr Vinod Zutshi, Secretary Tourism & Chairman PATA India Chapter as well as Mr Suman Billa, Joint Secretary Tourism.
